Automatic Update Acro 8 Prof Error:

Dear Colleagues:

I routinely responded to an Adobe request for AA 8 Prof update and, as usual, routinely ran the automatic update on my system.

After running the update, I am now receiving an error message about a fatal error and unable to read a something.

A pop up box appears telling me that Adobe Acrobat has encountered a serious error and cannot continue. It instructs me to reinstall and try again.

When I try to reinstall, I get the message that an operating Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional program is already on the machine and I cannot reinstall.

I am a bit hesitant to uninstall the entire program because it's so darned difficult to get any support or if there is a problem I'm likely to go through living hell getting any answers out of Adobe.

I need to know what is needed to fix this new problem.

Thanks very much!

Harold

This sounds like a problem with Activation. There is a tech note that provides some solutions. Also, if you're reinstalling, make sure you have the licensing service update for 8.0 or 8.1. This was also included in later point updates of Acrobat 8.
