Cannot install Acrobat 8.0 on new Dell 1530, Error 1714

I have Acrobat 8.0 pro as part of the Creative Suite 2, but its a separate CD (an upgrade). No problem to install the Suite on my new Dell with Vista, but whenever I install Acrobat 8.0, it says "Error 1714 older Acrobat 8.0 pro cannot be removed".
Anyone has an idea ? It is not merely a compatibility issue with Vista, as my previous computer had Vista and it worked fine.
