I have tried unsuccessfully several times to remove my Adobe Reader 7.0 and update it. It will not completely remove 7.0 and so I cannot upgrade to the newer version. I also cannot use the 7.0 because it deleted part of it. Help

My Product Information:
Reader 7.0.8, Windows

How are you deleting Reader?

If you are simply tossing it into the trash, that wont be enough. You can either use the installer to uninstall it or the Reader 8 installer to remove 7 before it does the install. Alternately, use Add/Remove programs to remove it. In either can, the installer has to clear the registry before an updated version will work.

I have done that at least 3 times and it will not delete all of 7.0. I even had the Comcast guy here on another problem and he couldn't get it to delete either. We did go through 8.and it would not delete all of 7.0. I'll try it again and let you know what the message is.

I just tried again. It gave me error 1714 - older version of 8.1.0 cannot be removed. contact tach support. I do not have 8.1.0 showing in my programs to delete/remove. I have 7.0.8 and when I try to delete it I get the following message:

Patch package cannot be opened. Verify that patch pkg exists and that you can access it, or contact appl. vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer patch. I do not know how to check for a patch pkg.

Unfortunately, I can't offer much at this point. I am not set up to offer technical support. Please contact Adobe's tech support (www.adobe.com/support).
