I have been using Acrobat 8.1 Pro for a couple of months now and notice that when used regularly I get this message far too often. Usually it is during or after OCRing a bunch of documents. Is there a fix? The program should not be having this many errors should it?

My Product Information:
Acrobat Pro 8.1.2, Windows

Have you tried running the Repair Acrobat Installation command under the Help menu? Do you have any other versions of Acrobat installed? Are you scanning directly from a network scanner or just OCRing?

No, I have not tried running the Repair Acrobat Installation. Did not know there was such a thing. I think the prior version of Acrobat was uninstalled when the new version was installed. I can double check. No scanning, just OCRing. I will try the repair and see if that works.

Ran the acrobat repair and I am still having this problem. It does not happen every time I try to OCR but it happens far too often. Is it something with the particular batch of documents? It seems very strange.

Were the PDFs that you're OCRing created in Acrobat? You can check this under the File --> Properties --> Description Tab. Under the Advanced section of the Description Tab you'll see an entry titled PDF Producer.

Yes, the PDFs were created in Acrobat. They were originally jpg and tif files that I converted using Acrobat.
