Explorer 7.0 won't open pdf links

I've had Adobe Acrobat 6.0 installed on my computer for about a year. A couple days ago I upgraded (using that term loosely) to Internet Explorer 7.0. Since that upgrade, Explorer will not open any internet links to pdf files. Any attempt to do so results in a blank page and Done with an exclaimation point in the status bar.
I've tried some basic troubleshooting- making sure all previous versions of Adobe were uninstalled, checking that the add-on was enabled. But I don't know what else to do and I don't have any skills to change registry information as I've seen some suggest.
I hope this is in the correct forum since I'm new to posting here. If someone can help me I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks, Kami

I want to add that if I right click the pdf link and choose "save target as..." then proceed to save the pdf file to, say, my desktop, I can then open the file with no problems. But that is a pain. It should open in the browser....

You can try repairing the Acrobat install for Acrobat 6.0x. To do this you need access to the installation media or to the network path from which you originally installed the product.
1. Choose Start > Control Panel > Add Or Remove Programs.
2. Select the Acrobat product, and then click Change/Repair (Windows XP) or Change/Remove (Windows 2000).
3. In the Setup dialog box, click Next.
4. Select Repair, and then Click Next.
5. Click Update.

You can also try to deselect and then reselect the Display PDF In Browser preference.
1. In the Acrobat product, choose Edit > Preferences (Windows) or [Acrobat product]> Preferences (Mac OS).
2. Select Internet.
3. Deselect Display PDF In Browser, and then click OK.
4. Quit and then start the Acrobat product.
5. Choose Edit > Preferences > Internet, select Display PDF In Browser, and then click OK.Good luck!

I refer to moderators comments on October 19, 19:58

We are having an issue thats affecting entire departments.
Issue, is when we open a PDF link from Acrobat Reader 7.03 in Internet Explorer 6.0.8, in Windows 2000 environment, sometimes for Japanese documents we get a blank first page.

The issue goes away if I reinstall as per Ikassuba's comments.
However the setting "Display PDF in Browser" changes every time I reopen a link from Explorer.

Is there a way to permanently enable "Display PDF in Browser" either through Registry or through some other setting ?
IF not how do we resolve the issue ?

Thanks
