Help. Thought this would be easy...

Moving to a new XP laptop from an old one.

Was running Acrobat 7 on the old one, bought a new Acrobat 8.1 on the new one.

Have a bunch of old acrobat files on the old laptop, version 5.1 .pdf files.

Copied all directories from old laptop to external USB 80GB drive... no problems.

Installed all new software on new laptop, hooked up USB drive, and did a copy/paste of the directories from the usb drive to my local C drive.

The copy errored (choked) on every .pdf file it found. Error says disk is protected or full, but have plenty of space. Tried to read file from Acrobat 8.1, it shows error and won't open file. But with the old laptop and Acrobat 7, it finds and opens the file just fine.

Anyone know what's up with this?

Hi,

Perhaps the pdf files are damaged when copying, try copy them again. If still the same problem, you can try to recover the files. You may try to download a free demo of Advanced PDF Repair at http://www.datanumen.com/apdfr/ This tool is rather useful in salvaging damaged PDF documents. Hope this helps.
