Full vs Upgrade Versions

I have v6 Standard on CD. I now have a new laptop using Win Vista and it comes with Adobe Reader v8 pre-installed. Can I get the Acrobat v8 Prof upgrade version instead of full version? Do I need to install the old v6 Standard on my Vista laptop first so the upgrade version can detect it? What if the old v6 Standard will not install on the Vista laptop?

My Product Information:
Acrobat Pro 8.1.1, Windows

You should be able to. You will need the Original CD-ROM or the authentication code. The install will ask for the original CD-ROM and the autthentication code. If you do not have these items but registered your copy with Adobe, you can call them and get a special authorization code.
