sorry if this is obvious, but how do I stop Adobe Updater running on windows XP?
Have tried renaming updater in the plugins, removing a registry key, checking IE add ons. This programme renders PCs unusable until it can be quit.
Thanks

To default it for all logins you have to rework your installation using InstallShield Tuner (A7/R8) or the Acrobat Customization Wizard (A8/R8).
No other way. Even a WISE before/after snapshot will not work.
I am sure you found the reg keys at:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\7.0\Updater (ver 8 is in a similar path).
However, modifying the keys will, as you indicate, "break" the installation to a quivering pile of useles 1's and 0's.
See previous postings on how to chain the transforms together into a functional distribution.
Thanks.
