Last Adobe Reader X update reset our settings

We deployed Adobe Reader X (10.0) to all of our users (~20,000) with the automatic update and install option enabled. This worked great up until the last update was installed (10.1). After the update was installed, the auto update and install option had changed to prompt user instead of install automatically. Does anyone know if this wil be standard policy on all future updates? W ewould like to keep the auto update and install option enabled but if each update is going to reset this option we would like to communicate this to our users.

My Product Information:
Reader 10.0.2, Windows

That's an interesting item, and I completely understand your issues. I'll see about directing a query to the 'powers that be' and see if they might have an answer.

Thanks

hpadh21,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Use the Administrators Information Manager (http://learn.adobe.com/wiki/download/attachments/46432650/AIM.air?version=1) to find out all the fun registry settings to play around with in this area.

Specifically, for your issue, you want to set:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Adobe\(product name)\(version)\FeatureLockdown\bUpdater
to 0 (zero) - which will lock down and disable the updater. Any other value will continue to allow it to work.

Hope this helps.

Thanks

Doug
