Message "event" during silent setup

Hello all,

i used the Customization wizard 8 for preparing the unattended installation of Acrobat 8 Pro.
Now, if i run the setup.exe sometimes i got a little message window containing only "event" and the OK button. Clicking OK the installation finishes.
The problem is I start the setup via enteo NetInstall. The Windows of NetInstall is always on top, also on top of the "event" message. For a user it seems that the installation hangs. If he move the NetInstall windows he see the event message and can click OK, but in the case he restart the pc the acrobat installation is failed.

Does anybody have the same problem? Or better a solution? :-)

Thanks in advance.

Regards

Thomas

Thomas,

If the popup window is Acrobat related, you might want to use the following switch settings with the Acrobat .MSI /qb-! (forward-slash qu be dash bang)Basically, totally silent, stealth mode.

There is a great deal of documentation regarding .MSI's out on MS's web site that is helpful for anyone using this to do some digging in.

If the popup is related to NetInstall, you may need to dig through its documentation on how to suppress this.

I agree, little things like this can be much more than a minor irritant, they can totally fail out an installation - causing even more suppor calls. Not good.

I hope this helps, or at least points you in the right direction.

Holler if you need more help.

Thanks.

Sincerely.

Hello Doug, Hello all,

some new informations concerning the problem.

I found out that the message appears during the installation the pdf printer.
So, i can reconstruct the "Event" message if i replace the driver in the "Server properties" of my machine. After copying the files of the driver the message appears.

I already tried to find some irregularies with Sysinternals Regmon or ProcessMonitor, but for me there are no specific errors to see.

Anyone with any idea to find out the source of the problem?

Thank you in advance

Hi All,

found the solution of the problem.

A faulty installation of the PDF Printer "eDocPrintPro" caused the described message window.
After repairing this installation the Acrobat-Deployment runs perfectly.
