We uninstalled all previous versions of Acrobat and Reader and then installed Acrobat 9 Standard. Whenever the user tries to open a pdf it opens in the browser. All pdf documents on his desktop show with an Internet Explorer icon. We have tried changing the file association and it will not change. We have unchecked the setting in Acrobat that indicates to open pdf in browser, to no avail. We have run detect and repair twice and uninstall/reinstalled Acrobat 9 Standard.

Help?

My Product Information:
Acrobat Standard 9.0, Windows

What OS and version of Internet Explorer are you running?

Under the tools menu when you select Manage Add Ons do you see the following:
Adobe PDF, Adobe PDF Context Menu Helper, Adobe PDF Conversion Toolbar Helper, Adobe PDF Reader, Adobe PDF Reader Link Helper, Adobe PDF Reader Link Helper?

You might try uninstalling and then using a registry cleaner to try to clear this up.
