Hey,
i try to install adober reader x (10.1.0.0)on my organization , i also use mcafee virus scan 8.7 with access protection, i got a rule there that says "prevent programs registering as service" , when i install mcafee it fails and the acess protecion log says :
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

20/06/2011 12:48:44 Blocked by Access Protection rule NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe \REGISTRY\MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\services\AdobeARMservice Common Maximum Protection:Prevent programs registering as a service Action blocked : Create
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

if i had a clear service name i could exclude it , but i dont i only get that "AdobeARMservice" is somehow trying to register with "service.exe" ,
i dont need to tell you that i cant disable the anti virus for 800 workstations only to install adobe reader...

does anyone have a solution?
thanks!

Hi Rotem,

This is known and as designed since AdobeARMservice is trying to register with "service.exe"
For more details you can go through the Adobe Acrobat_Reader_Updater document: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/837/cpsid_83709/attachments/Acrobat_Reader_Updater.pdf
