registry problem with Adobe

I run Windows XP SP2, and recently have been unable to install any version of Adobe Acrobat Reader or Professional. The login process proceeds normally until about halfway through when I am told that Adobe cannot edit a registry entry in my H-KEY CLASSES_ROOT folder. Registry repair/cleaner programs have been unable to resolve the issue for me.

If the registry cleaner found a read only entry in the registry, it will not touch it. I suggest rolling back your system using a restore point (say 3 weeks ago) and try again. My last resort suggestion is backing up all files, reformat your hard drive, and re-installing everything. Or, you can take the computer to a certified MS repair facility and have them fix the problem.
