Strange message at launch, then acrobat quits

I get a message saying that Acrobat can't be launched unless another CS3 progam is running, it suggests Photoshop, I click ok and it quits. I launch photoshop and the same thing happens. It was working perfectly 2 days ago.

Does this make sense or should I be re-installing/upgrading it?

You'll need to activate CS3 with an application other than Acrobat because Acrobat 8 contains a slightly different version of our Activation technology. Here is a technical note with additional information.

Thanks for your suggestion.

I activated CS3, and I am still getting the same message. The odd thing is that only a few days ago it was working perfectly. Also, Distiller is no not doing what it's supposed to. When I make PDf's it offsets the image on the page. I tel it to centre the image on the page and it places roughly 1/3 off the page.

Does this make any sense?

Did you attempt to Activate while in Acrobat or another CS3 application? Under the Help menu is Deactive listed as an option?

I had quit Acrobat and tried Photoshop (nothing happened,) Illustrator and Flash (quit/crashed,) finally Dreamweaver, which worked.

Deactivate is not an option in Acrobat, is greyed out in Photoshop (along with activate, regustration and updates) and available in InDesign (activate isn't.)

Do you have any problems running the applications if you create a new user? Have you tried deleting your Preferences?

I tried that and I got a slightly longer delay before the same message came up. Nothing seems to work, I think I'm going to have to re-install it.
