Uninstall by using the Windows Control panel. When complete, inspect the system registry (regedit.exe) to make sure all references of Acrobat have been removed.
Also run Disk Cleanup after the uninstall.

To uninstall Acrobat 8.0 Standard I tried clicking the remove button (or whatever it is called) in Windows Add/Remove Programs Control Panel and got the error message "This patch package could not be opened"
