Uninstalling Installing Adobe Acrobat

All of a sudden my Adobe Acrobat 7 will not work, giving me the following error message when I try to open it:

“This patch cold bot be opened. Verify that your patch package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer patch"

I’ve tried to uninstall it and reinstall it, but this is the error message I get. So I downloaded Acrobat 8.0, but it tells me I already have it installed and need to uninstall the other first, but it won’t ket me??

Any idea how I can get Acrobat to work again??

My Product Information:
Acrobat Standard 7.0.0, Windows

that's just unexceptable...i'm running Vista64 / IE7 /AcrobatPro 8x and the CS3 WebPremier: [Problem can't convert Html2Pdf.] No error, i see the toolbar in IE, but nothing happens. So i go to unistall Acrobat, but doesn't show up in Program/Features/CS3 Component List or anywhere for that matter.
i run Revo Unistaller and it doesn't see it either. i find on NemesisV Blog a 4pg manual unistall that takes me deep into the registry--what gives--i'm sorry for venting, but i'm very pissed after trying to resolve what appeared to be a simply problem.
