Windows Vista and upgrades

I am using the trial version of Acrobat Pro 9.0 right now and I really like it. I do need to buy the software, although the Standard version will suit my needs.

I was thinking that it would be less expensive to buy an older version such as 6.0 and then the 9.0 Standard upgrade.

I am running Windows Vista 64-bit. Will this idea work?

Hi,
Just a guess here; but, installing a 32-bit application (Acrobat 6) onto a 64-bit operating system and
then expecting the 32-bit application to provide a solid foundation for an upgrade to the 64-bit compatible Acrobat
application may be a wee bit problematic.

Regardless, some Adobe information that may be useful vis-a-vis 64-bit support.

(Acrobat 8.1 update began support for 64-bit OS. Suggestion: read the "Known limitations discussion)

Also remember that any exisiting 32-bit applications you have and that you want to move over
may not perform to full functionality in a 64-bit OS.
You may have to purchase upgrades or new licenses.
