Acrobat's Commenting toolkit has one great component that adds a new level of interaction to classroom materials; the Audio commenting tool ( Tools > Comment and Mark-up > Record Audio Attachment). I like to think of Acrobat as a mini language lab
The audio commenting tool utilizes a built-in recorder so that users can apply an audio comment on any pdf. You can also add a pre-recorded WAV or AIFF sound file if necessary.
Some great uses come with respect to assessing or communicating in World Language activities, Language Arts, Music and performing arts activities, or any asynchronous commenting activity. .
What's even nicer is that you can enable this mark-up toolkit (including audio) for Adobe reader users.
Like all comments in Acrobat, they will show up in the comment pane of your PDF. When utilized with a commenting workflow i.e. distribution of a file and summarizing of comments, its possible to import all recorded comments into a single file for assessment, class records, and archival purposes. Students and teachers can also use this tool to give a brief overview, summary, or instructions wherever appropriate.
Feel free to post any additional ideas or questions on this powerful (and under-utilized) feature.
Is this possible?
Thanks!
