Can forms already created by someone else be downloaded and altered to include calculations by Adobe?

Only if you have the correct program to edit the form and the form is not secured. Also once you edit and save a form, you will disable the Extended Reader Rights if they were enabled.

How do you tell in the form is secured?

IF AN EDITABLE FORM IS CREATED IN AP8 AND SENT TO PEOPLE TO EDIT OR FILL IN, IF THAT PERSON IS UTILIZING ACROBAT READER, IS THERE A WAY FOR THEM TO SAVE THE DOCUMENT OR EMAIL THE FILLED IN DOCUMENT BACK TO THE SENDER?

You can look the closed padlock or look a the Properties security tag.

In order for users of Reader 6 or above to email or save a form Extended Reader Rights need to be enabled. Version 8 Professional can do this or you need an Acrobat or LiveCycle server product.
