Acrobat's purple form bar doesn't show up

I distributed my form to a few people to test it out, and right away I'm running into problems. One person seems to be able to get the form to open within his browser (safari), but the form doesn't display that purple bar across the top that usually says "highlight fields," "submit form" etc.

Since it's a form, having that submit function is essential - the form is useless without it. Any ideas why it's not showing up for him?

My Product Information:
Acrobat Pro 9.2, Macintosh

Hi grlintheworld,

In Adobe Reader 8 and 9 a preference can be set to Not show the purple info bar. Possibly your client has this set to "Always Hide Forms Document Message Bar" which is one of the options. Have them check to see if that is the case.

Hope this helps,

Dimitri

Hi Dimitri,

Thanks for your response. I will ask him... In the meantime, is there no way to set my PDF to override a person's browser settings to ensure that the purple bar always comes up? Since it's an order form, if they don't see the bar immediately (which has the submit button), the form is kind of useless...

I have run into this problem before and I am currently seeing it again. We are testing this on a form to be used internally on our intranet. We have a form and when I open it up I see the purple bar and the Submit button. When another user here opens the same form she sees the purple bar but no Submit button. Only the "Highlight Fields" button shows up for her.

Just a little about the installation. We are using the same version of Adobe (9 Professional), installed from the same enterprise software distribution system. So the configuration should be exactly the same. Any suggestions?

The user can edit the preferences of their copy of Acrobat/Reader and turn on/off this preference.

A form creator can set 'runTimeHighlight' and 'runTimeHighlightColor'. You could also add an application alert to display upon opening that the form has fillable fields and rights or you can use a non-printable comment to provide this information.

You mentioned run time "Highlight", not sure if my questions was clear. It's the Submit button that I want to show up for submitting forms. If the user can turn this on or off I have not found a way to do it. Any ideas?
