Advice on Forms software

I am a Mac-based designer and I've been asked to create a form with various functionality (text fields, drop down menus, check boxes, etc.). The end deliverable would need to be a PDF with active fields that can be filled out, saved and returned. From my understanding Adobe Designer only works with Windows, is this correct? Is there an Adobe product that would be ideal to create these forms a Mac platform? Is LiveCycle more appropriate for what I'm looking to do? I have Adobe Professional 7.0, but it seems that you have to manually go into the PDF and insert text fields, check boxes etc., which is rather sloppy and extremely time consuming. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Adobe Professional 8 (for Windows, at least) has a "Form Field Recognition" tool which is great. You'll still need to do some editing but it's a big timesaver.

I can't answer about the Mac program, it may be the same. Since you can get a trial download why don't you try it out?

Hope this helps

Acrobat is probably the program I use most often and I'm learning more every day.
