Can you explain to a beginner how to create a form where if I put a value in a field (number) other predetermined "text fields" would come up? Don't know if this will help, but an exampleis:
(Let me start by saying that I am a Police Officer and I am trying to develop forms to make it easier for everyone who writes reports.)
An Officer (by using a drop down) selects the file class "13001" (which is the number value of a simple assault)He/ she then has certain questions that need answered that are unique to that file class. If it was an assault file class then one of the questions may be, "Was medical attention required?" Where if it a shoplifter that is not an asked question. I would like to have the questions appears once the number is selected. Also, these will be forms that are printed out and will be accessable by them being placed on a hard drive.

You need to use JavaScripts to set up the field response options. This isn't a simple matter we could answer in this forum. You'll need to do some research and look over the JavaScript Specification manual. You might try downloading forms from the Web and look for sample forms that do some similar things that you'd like to replicate.
