In my calculation order dialog box, among the many field names displayed I have one field which shows 4 times. I've checked to see if the field was inadvertently duplicated 3 times, but it is not.
 
This is not causing any apparent problem. I've watched this for a couple of weeks, thinking perhaps it would correct itself, but it has not.
 
Is this a sign of something that needs to be corrected, or unheard of?

I've never seen that. What happens if you remove the field in question, do a Save As, and add the field back?

On your suggestion I did this. First, with the field names in alphabetic sort I noticed the subject field name - which was exactly the same alphanumeric set, upper and lower case - appeared twice, once in the hierarchical field name tree where it should, and once in the field name list outside the hierarchy. (Note that in the previous sentence I am speaking of the field names list, not the calculation order list, where the same field name was appearing 4 times.)

The first three times I deleted the field Acrobat hung and closed within about 10 seconds. Fourth time I closed field editing quickly before it froze, saved and reopened. Checked to insure it was not showing in the field names list, then recreated the field and formula, and confirmed the field name appears in the field names list only once, and in the calculation order dialog box only once.

This is probably something for which there is no answer.
