Copying form fields from one PDF file to another

My problem is this: I spent a great deal of time with some very complicated forms that I created in InDesign, created PDFs from them and then went in and created tons of form fields so that our officers could complete the forms on their computers instead of handwriting them. Unfortunately, after all that work, the powers-that-be made some minor changes to the forms which will require minor changes to the InDesign files. However, I haven't been able to figure out how, if it's even possible, to take the dozens of form fields I created in the previous PDF files and copy them to the new, updated PDF files without having to go through the process of starting all over again. Is there a way to duplicate/copy form fields from one PDF to another?

I'm sure there's a better way, but the way I figured it out is to open two cdocs in two separate windows.

copy the field in doc 1 (click in the field and Alt+e+c)
click in doc 2 and insert field (Shift +Ins)
move field where you want it

Takes time, but you get pretty fast after a while.

Copyig fields can work, but there can be issues with pasting and repositioning them, but the biggest problem is that if there are page, print, save or document level scripts they will not be copied.

To get around the above, one can replace the pages of the PDF with the form fields with the revised PDF pages. This is possible because PDF forms keep the background PDF image and text is a separate context layer from the layser that contains form fields and JavaScripts.

From the menu bar select "Document => Replace pages...".
