You will need to use a version of Acrobat that create fill-in forms. The current versions are Acrobat 4 - 5, Acrobat Professional 6 - 8, or Acrobat 9 Standard, Pro, or Pro Extended.

To allow users to save or submit the forms you will need Acrobat Professional 8 or Acrobat 9 Standard or better to be able to enable the 'Extended Reader Rights' for up to 500 copies of the enabled form, per the EUL. Above 500 distributions of the form you should be looking at an Adobe server product.

The 'text box' you are using is a comment tool and not a form field, although you could 'lock' comment.

Hi adobebeginner,

No, Acrobat 8 Standard does not include the ability to create form fields, or enable Reader users to fill and save- for those capabilities you would need either Acrobat Professional 8, Acrobat Standard 9, or Acrobat Professional 9.

Hope this helps,
