Custom calculation without using $ symbol

Hi all,
I am having a bit of trouble using a calculation.
I have 2 fields that I would like to multiply together to give the result in a 3rd field..
One field is a $ amount and the second is a multiplier, the third then should also be a $dollar amount.
The problem is it won't work unless I either put a $ symbol on all 3 fields or take the $ symbol off all 3 fields.
The multiplier is not a dollar value so is there a way around this???j

Thanks in advance
Swen

What is your working script?

What is the error you are receiveing when you remove the "$" format from the multiplier field?

I am just using the standard value is the product of two fields function in the calculation tab.

No error message, the final tally field just doesn't work.

Thanks
