I have a stack of hard copy survey's that I've created a form for so in the future people can submit these online. I need to enter all this previous data and make charts based on it. What is the best way to do this efficiently as there are hundreds to do? There are 8 questions where each has the choice to: Strongly agree, agree, no opinion, disagree, strongly disagree plus a comment text box. One person I talked to said to set it up in Access, however in the future I'm going to try to rely on sending the surveys out so don't want to waste even more time than I already have with this. I need to be able to quickly data enter each form and have no idea what method to use. Please help and thanks:)

My Product Information:
Acrobat Pro 10.0, Windows

Pulling data from the old hard copy forms and from the new forms are two completely different tasks. Since the new forms are interactive you can use the "Distribute Form" functionality in Acrobat to collect the entered data. There are also many other ways to setup custom data collection if you have either money or programming skills.

The old forms are a particular problem. Hard copy multiple choice selections do not lend themselves well to the OCR/data scraping process on a PDF. Especially if the selections were filled out by hand. I'm afraid you'll need some specialized software, or cheap labor, to get the data off the forms.

Is there a way to put the form on a hidden page of my website and just keep filling it out and submitting it over and over? Could I set it up so the information all goes to a spreadsheet somehow? The problem is I have no programming skills and also no time or desire to learn them. Any additional help is desperately appreciated.

The built-in "Distribute Form" functionality in Acrobat will handle all of this for you. No programming necessary.

Click on the "Distribute" button on the "Forms" Tools Panel.

But there are licensing restrictions on how many times the form can be submitted.

You don't need to place the form online. You can create the form and then fill it in as many times as is needed, saving a copy of each. In Acrobat, you can then extract the data from a collection of forms and save it to a spreadsheet.

Acrobat 10: Tools > Forms > More Forms Options > Manage Form Data > Merge Data Files into Spreadsheet
