Dynamic Stamps stop working when edited

I've carefully followed the instructions on creating a custom dynamic stamp, but it doesn't work. All I want to do is have username and current date within my own stamp.

I copied the relevant text field from the standard Dynamic.pdf into my created 80AuEhqpARvWjhkNw-xoXC.pdf file of stamps.

But when I change the pasted field in ANY way the dynamic part stops working all together, or the username part drops from view (even though the java script code is unchanged). Just changing the size of the form field, changing properties like font colour all cause it to stop working.

Why is this so?

This is the 3rd version of Acrobat I've tried to get dynamic stamps working, They just never work.

SOLUTION:

Close the stamp file before trying to insert your new stamp into another file !!

Pretty simple, but how would you know this?
