Editing form text in Adobe Pro 8

I have created forms in Word and converted them to PDF from within the application. These open in the traditional adobe interface as opposed to Livecycle Designer, and from there I would run form field recognition. The form has many different text boxes, drop-down boxes, check boxes and signature fields. I set all the properties, locked the control fields and kept the original Word docs in case some editing needed to be done. The only issue is that anytime the form needs to be edited, it's to the text and not the controls. I end up making the changes in original document, saving it as a new form with a different name such as PAF_1, PAF_2, etc., then I copy and past the controls from the old form so that I don't have to re-size them and set up the properties again. There has got to be an easier way to do this process in the future, but I am unaware of it off the top of my head. Is there a way to edit the static form text and not the controls?

Thanks in advance,

Nat
