Email button sends email with HTML characters displayed

I know I must be doing something wrong, but I can't seem to get the email sent from a form to be delivered without the HTML characters displayed. I've gone over several posts and the help documents, but apparently I'm missing something. I'm pretty new at this and any help would be appreciated.
