Error 43 when saving documents

Hello all....I'm seeking wisdom regarding an issue with sharing Adobe forms. We recently started using Acrobat forms for a multi step process that requires several users to open a form, add their data to verify completion of that step of the process, and save the changes. The blank original form (as well as all iterations) is saved in a Windows file share to which all users have equal rights.

The original (blank) form was created in Acrobat Professional 8.0 / LiveCycle 8.0 and has the Reader Rights enabled. Most users accessing the form have either Acrobat Standard 8.1, Acrobat Professional 8.0 or 8.1. Two users accessing the forms are using only Reader 9 and do not report the issue (but the others using full Acrobat do).

The problem seems to occur randomly with various copies of the form, but so far it seems that a user will open the form, make a change, save it once with no issue, but when they try to make a change and save it a second time the error pops up that reads: The document could not be saved. There was a problem reading this document (43). After which, there seems to be no remedy; the user can copy the file to their local drive and will still be unable to save the document. It's almost as if the process of saving the file once seems to alter some property that prevents further changes but I have no idea what that could be. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My Product Information:
Acrobat Pro 8.0, Windows

This sounds very similar to this issue Acrobat doc could not be saved issue. Error (43). In this case the problem was that the PDF was Reader-enabled, which is why recipients with Reader didn't experience any problems.

OK. I appreciate the mention but I did find that post initially and verified that it wasn't part of our issue. (the reader rights are correctly set). I wish that was the problem since it's such an easy fix!

Are you able to check any network logs to see if there are any issues with the shared drive? Are they able to do a Save As (I know this removes the reader-enabled rights)? What compatibility did you have set when you created the form in LC Designer?

There haven’t been issues with the network or shared drives. I'm in an office of 250 people with about 300GB of shared files and no other issues (only the Acrobat forms). When the problem occurs they are unable to do a Save As or any kind of save. The file can actually be copied to the local PC and the issue remains. I didn't create the form; I'm not sure how to tell the compatibility setting. Since I posted the original description I've noticed that a user can open the form with Reader and modify it with no problems and in fact after they make a change with Reader, the user with Acrobat is able to make a change and save it. Even more mysterious huh? This one has me stumped.
