Hi I'm currently working on a form that I initially create in InDesign export to PDF add in the appropriate form fields, and then finally Extend features in Reader and pass this form onto a colleague, they open the extended pdf in Reader or Foxit and add in an reference number in a single file on the form and save as closing the form. The form is then sent out to the end user for them to enter data.
My problem lies when the second user inserts the reference number and saves in Reader, the file now loses its extended features leaving the form useless when sent on to the end user!
I've found that there may be a problem with Foxit being a third party application, but didn't expect this with reader.
So to get this right so I can start searching for a different solution, a form in Reader with extended features can only be saved by one operator, it data cannot be entered be a secondary operator, or the file saved as and given a new filename, all these actions will remove the extended features.
I have come across this on another blog here and they have found a solution but no explanation http://forums.adobe.com/message/1169351
Do you have people Saving the forms in different time zones by any chance? This problem often occurs when the creation date is after the date & time on the current system, making the date stamp invalid, so the form is no longer editable.
