Extended Forms: Form Field Recognition

I was going thru the Extended Forms Features article. In it it says to open a form created from Word or any other form like doc converted to PDF. When in PDF, I used the Run From Field Recognition and it said "No new form annotations detected" and created no fields. As a general tip: It does not recognize Word Text Boxes as fields. Must be a line.

My Product Information:
Acrobat Pro 8, Windows

Yes, it's true. You generally need to use underlines instead of boxes for Run Form Field Recognition to work well. In some cases boxes will work, but in most cases they don't. Also, checkboxes are hard to get Run Form Field Recognition to work well.

If you want the appearance of your form to display boxes and not lines you have two options. 1) use a border on your field appearances or 2) create two forms. With the latter, create a form that optimizes Run Form Field Recognition and another form with fields in identical locations that you create for the appearance. After using Run Form Field Recognition, replace the page with the fields with the design page.
