Extending Signature Rights to Users of Adobe Reader

I'm using Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard. I'm attempting to create a signature form field to distribute to receipients viewing a .pdf in Adobe Reader. The receipient would fill out the form fields and e-sign the .pdf. I can't get Adobe Reader to allow signatures. I've attempted to go into the Advanced folder of Acrobat 9 and look for something on Reader rights, but all I've got is "Extend Forms Fill-in & Save in Adobe Reader". I've attempted to complete this and still cannot sign the doc in Adobe Reader. HELP!

Thanks.

Curt

For a signature field to work in Reader, the form must have Reader Rights Extended. You can not do this when creating a form in Standard, only in Professional. In order to use signature fields that do no have Reader rights extended, the user must open the form in Acrobat, not Reader.

If you use LiveCycle ES, not Designer, you can apply not only form rights, but also signature rights to a PDF form and then a user with Reader could create and apply a signature.
