I am designing a form using Adobe Acrobat 5. When creating a signature field you have the option of going to the Signed tab in the Filed properties and 'Mark as Read Only' the All fields or most fields including the signature field itself.
However when you include the signature field itself as one of the the 'Read Only' fields how do you 'unlock' the fields after signing, if you need to change something. Lets say you signed the document thus marking all the fields as read only but quickly realized that you forgot to include something or you need to correct something. How do you 'unlock' the fields in order to make an amendment to the document?
The only way around this catch 22 seems to be to go to Tools>Digital Signatures> Clear All Signature Fields . This clears the signature thus unlocking all the fields but is there a better way?
I would appreciate any help. Thank you.
You could add an application alert that's prompted when a user attempts to sign a document posing the question "Are you sure all fields are filled in properly" (Yes/No). This gives the user a moment to verify the field data. But if Yes is selected in the alert dialog you're back to square one and no easy way to edit the form after locking the fields.
