Flatten Form in Reader

We're designing an invitation template for other departments to use when they host various events. We'd like to have it so that we send the departments a template with an editable text box where they can enter whatever text they want. However, we want the other departments to be able to flatten the invitation from Adobe Reader so they can't be edited once they're sent out. Is there a way to do this from reader without installing java scripts on each user's machine?

The simple answer is you can't - flattening form fields constitutes a change to the document, so is something only Adobe Acrobat can do.

Reader can set the fields to read-only and save. This makes the fields uneditable. Just provide a button that sets the fields to read-only and hides itself.

How do you set up a button to do that?
