Form Check Box "On/Off"

I beleive that if you name a check box the same as another check box, when the first one is checked the other will check as well (at least that is how text fields seem to work - i am new to Forms)

Is there a way to, if the above is not true, make one box check when another is selected. Also, can the inverse be achieved. If a box is left unchecked can an opposing box be checked?

Thank You

If check boxes are named the same, the behavior depends on what you've specified as the export values. If the names are the same and the export values are the same, they will behave as one, but if the export values are different, they will act as a group (like a radio button group).

You'll have to clarify your first question. If what part is not true?

For your second question, are you saying that given two check boxes, you always want one to be checked, like how a radio button group with two buttons would behave?

For the first question...i think that there we understand each other and the two boxes can act as a tandum by matching there export values

for the second question, perhaps an explaination of what i am trying to accomplish would help. at the top of the form there is a list of choices optionable to check (let's call them A, B, C, D, E). Below there is specific information needing to be gathered for the above chosen options. The detailed section is either "needed" or "not needed"

If a user chooses A, D, E and Leaves B, C blank: Solution you gave to my first question would check the "Needed" box for A,D,E in the specific information section of the form. I want to be able to have the "Not Needed" box checked in the specific information section of the form by simply linking it to the unchecked box above (B,C)

Is this clear.

I have gone through several designs of this form and customers are still not understanding it and the information is required in order for us to be able to continue in there project. i think this, if it is possible, will solve the problem by showing them what needs to be filled in as well as give us a quick look at what they have choosing to do.

Thanks
