Form field Properties dialog box -- weird behavior

I need to edit properties for some of the fields that already exist in a form (I'm changing the field name, setting the field to Read Only, and adding a custom calculation script.)

To edit these properties, I select each field in the Fields pane, without closing the Properties dialog in between. I click inside the Name box, edit the name, and either (1) tab to the Read Only check box or (2) just select the Read Only check box using the mouse.

The problem is that either way I do it -- by tabbing through the dialog box or by clicking the check box directly -- the Properties dialog jumps to the next form field in the Fields pane.

So any subsequent edits I make in the Properties dialog get made to a different form field than the one I just renamed!

Luckily I figured out what was happening before I'd done too many of these (I have approximately 50 fields to edit), but it's REALLY disconcerting.

I've noticed this behavior periodically with the Properties dialog before, but I guess I haven't done this kind of concentrated editing before...today it's obvious enough that I finally logged in to ask about it.

Has anybody noticed this problem? Is it a known bug? Is there any way to get around it?

Thanks!
Caroline

It's possible to write a script that will set all (or some) of the form fields in a PDF to be Read Only.
