You'll need to provide more details if you're looking for help. The more the better.

Operating System, Version of Acrobat, for field names involved, type of field, range of entries for the field.

You need to explain exactly what you mean by "autopopulate 3 fields based on input from the first field". I can interpret this to mean various different things.

Ok, windows 7, acrobat 9 pro extended, the fields contain alpanumeric charcters. On my form i have several studies that have four different codes involved of which the codes are unique to each study. I want the form to autopopulate the remaining 3 fields based on my first code input for that particular study. Then enter the next study by using the 1st code for that particular study. I hope this all makes sense!

Yes, that's possible with a bit of scripting. The script would look at the value you entered into the first field, look up the values for the other fields, and populate the other fields with the values. Without the additional information mentioned by gkaiseril, it's difficult to be more specific than this.

Just give them all the same name.

Try67's suggestion will work if you want the other three fields to have the same value as the first. I read your post to mean that you wanted the other three fields to have different values, depending on what was entered into the first.
