Form Text color is being changed by Acrobat

I am setting a form text color to be 50 cyan, 100 magenta, 0 yellow and 0 black from the text field properties palette, CMYK slider. Then when i review to check that the color saved, it is changing to 53 Cyan, 93 magenta, 2 yellow and 2 black. In fact, no color i create using the CMYK slider will save that way - Acrobat is changing it?

There are no CMYK sliders in either Acrobat or LiveCycle Designer. You must be talking about InDesign. You'll have to goto another forum for this.

Thom isn't exactly correct. I assume you are on a Macintosh and you are using the Acrobat Text Field tool--not LiveCycle Designer. If I am wrong, let me know.

Although you can set values in CMYK using the text color options, they are actually converted to RGB internally, then back to CMYK when you reopen the dialog box. That's why the shift occurs.

You really can't control this internal conversion. You might be able to mitigate it somewhat with your color settings on your computer, but Acrobat form tools are designed for RGB--not CMYK.

To get to a specific color value, you should set your text color in RGB values and then use color management at the printer to give you the CMYK results you need. It does require a good understanding of color management, but it can be done.
