I have a lengthy form (acro, not LCD) that I created in a trial version of 9 Pro Extended; it includes a button that executes the Document>Attach a File menu command. The form is enabled to be filled & saved in Reader.
When the form is opened in Reader 9 we have no problem using the form and attaching a file.
However, when it's opened in Reader 8, we get a warning that "This file appears to use a new format that this version of Acrobat does not support. It may not open or display correctly. Adobe recommends that you upgrade to the latest version...", AND the button doesn't work. It looks like it clicks, but nothing happens. The rest of the form seems to be fine.
Another form, created from two pages of the big form but with no button, opens without the warning message and works fine.
Is there a known issue with backward compatibility of buttons in forms? Is there something I can do to make this work for my client's users, many of whom may have even older versions of Reader?
Unfortunately, our trial of 9 PE has expired, and we're back to 8 Pro...which is a problem in and of itself, but that's for another forum. (Among other things, our reinstalled versions of 8 Pro won't convert to PDF. Luckily we still have one person who never installed the trial of 9...)
thanks for any help with this.
