Forms xml parsing error

I am getting the following error code when trying to create a spreadsheet from ther responses to a form that was distributed.
xml parsing error: not well-formed (invalid token) (error code4) line 1 column 2.
 
How do I resolve this to open the data files? I need the responses.

My Product Information:
Acrobat Pro 7.0.9, Windows

Have you looked at the XML? Sepcifically line 1 column 2? This is right at the top of the XML so there is something very wrong.
