How to not allow interactive field after user has saved a pdf form

I'm really, really new to this. First time I've used Pdf forms - created a real simple one with only one field for the User's name. I created it using Acrobat Professional 7.0 with Designer 7.0. How do I make it so after a user has opened the pdf form and filled their name in and then used saved as that it saves with their name and the field is no longer interactive. Right now, when using save as, it's allowing the field to be written over in the saved as file. I want it to become static with the name the user put in it. And how to I maintain that the original pdf form's field stays empty for the next user to go in and put in their name? Thanks very much.

My Product Information:
Acrobat Pro 7.0, Windows

Its probably unwise to try and just answer your questions, because the best answers would need to explore how you intend to use forms. For example, did you know that users with only Reader cannot save them?
You can get around this severe limitation with Acrobat 8, but you still need to decide whether you need the form saved by the user. It's more usual to get users to Submit data (or the entire form) with a submit button. This button can initiate actions that lock fields against further change, as can a digital signature field. To stop users corrupting the original form you can just host it in a folder where only you have write access permissions.

There is lots of info on form usage linked from the top of the main Acrobat user-to-user forum.
Also remember that Designer is a completely different program, but with a pdf output; so Designer forms cannot be edited in Acrobat.

Thank you for your reply to my post. The intention was to use the form as a Certificate of Completion for an internal class. The pdf form document is the certificate with only the one fillable field for the user to enter their name. They would be allowed to put their name into the form field and then print off the certificate. We are OK with them doing a "save as" to keep their Certificate in electronic form (but with the field no longer being interactive - just their name there, static). I did read somewhere that if they are using Reader they cannot save but I thought I had tested it with a person using Reader and the issue of save as with fillable field was still there. I will need to check again. Based on what we are using this form for, is a text interactive form field the best for something like this? Would a submit button send the certificate somewhere after they've filled in the field with their name? I know these are very rudimentary questions but when I say I'm new this (I really mean that ) and I really appreciate your help. Please know I will be away from email for a little while and may not see your response until a week or so but thank you very much for any other advice you can give on this.
