how to "unlink" my checkboxes

I created a number of checkboxes by copying and pasting them.
Then I selected them and changed some properties of approximately 30 at the same time.

Now, when I select one in that group of 30 or so, they will all be selected. Deselect one, and they are all deselected.

I can solve the problem by individually renaming one checkbox at a time. However, for my purposes the names of these aren't important at this juncture, and I hadn't intended to do this.

I have a 40 page form to finish creating and want to be able to quickly create these check boxes and modify their properties at one time. It's my understanding that I should be able to do this without the "linked" problem I'm having.

Any suggestions?

In Acrobat 9, you can create a single field, select it with the arrow tool, right-click, and select "Place Muliple Fields". Select the options you want and Acrobat will create the number of fields you specified and each will have a unique name.

Hi,

I am having a problem with check boxes in my writable pdf file that I made. I have over 40 check boxes, but I can't figure out how to stop some of them from being linked (clicking on one and then others automatically check themselves).

I have 6 rows of 9 check boxes and every time I check the first box in a row, it automatically checks all the first boxes in every row. Same with the second box and so on. I only want one box checked at a time. How do I fix that?

I've searched on the internet for answers and this is the only site that seems to slightly address my problem.

Thanks,
Dawn

Dawn,

For each row of check boxes, the field names of the check boxes need to be the same, but different for each row.

For example, the names of the check boxes in row 1 might be "cb1", for row 2 "cb2", etc.
