Indesign + Acrobat Pro ("invisible forms")

Hi,

My client has printed forms.

He used to use the typewriter to fill the fields of form.

I'm trying to use InDesign with Acrobat Pro to produce a PDF with the exact dimensions of printed form and fields in order to eliminate the typewriter use.

So, my problem is: Since I will print on a ready form, my PDF should have only fields and not labels. It should be an invisible document. The fields should be putted on specific coordinates.

But Acrobat Pro only can produce forms from Indesign files with labels and fields.

Does anyone have some thoughts about how should I proceed?

My Product Information:
Acrobat Pro 10.1, Windows

There are two programs within Acrobat Professional that create forms, Acrobat and LiveCycle Designer.

LiveCycle Designer adds tag to fields. These tag's text can be deleted or the input field area can be moved to hide the tag.

Acrobat can add fields without any text tag.

I have created forms in acrobat from MS Word, MS Excel, and OpenOffice.org. OpenSource.org PDF Forms by Ted Padova

With Acrobat, you have the option of printing just the form fields. Unfortunately, this is not an option with Reader.

Another option is to place the underlying page contents on a non-printing layer. There are a number of ways to create layers, from using Preflight, adding a background/watermark, etc. In Acrobat you can configure a layer to display but not print.

In addition to George_Johnson's advice, you can also place a field covering the whole page as the very first field in the tabbing order. This field has a white background and is set to be hidden in view, but printing.

it might be necessary to add a very light grey border to it, in order to maintain the scaling in print. In any case, test well.

Hope this can help.

Creating form fields using InDesign is not yet really a reliable process: create layout using InDesign, and create form fields using Acrobat.
