Need to Count Items on a Form

I am creating an order form in Acrobat 8 Professional that contains a series of items to be filled in by the user. Since they would not necessarily fill in every item, I would like to have an auto-fill field that reports how many of the items were filled in. I am assuming this can be done with a Javascript, but I have no idea how to do it. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks.

Was your form created in Acrobat or LiveCycle Designer?

LiveCycle Designer has a count function that counts non-null fields.

For Acrobat Forms see the Count function Troubleshooting Calculations The post also includes a Sum and Average functions.

Thanks for your quick response, George. I did this form directly in Acrobat. I'll have to play with it, but I believe the Count function will do exactly what I want. Thanks.
