Need help on formatting text field

I have a text field with 5 lines. When I ran form recognition, it gave me 5 separate text fields. I want these 5 lines to be just one text field. People using the form will be typing in information that describes their education. I want them to be able to automatically go to the next line when they reach the end of line 1. Should I check the multi-line box as well as the scrolling box?
Thanks

Hi Mike,

I would suggest deleting the extra 4 text fields and make the remaining field large enough to cover the space available. Then in the field properties box go to the options tab and check the multi-line option. This will allow the text to automatically wrap to the next line when the user begins to enter information.

I would also change the size of the text on the appearance tab. The default setting is Auto. Auto will continue to make the text smaller based on the size of the field and the amount of information the user enters. Changing the size to an actual number will keep the text at the same size no matter how much text the user enters.

The scrolling long text option will then be needed if the user types more information then there is room to view in the text field. If they enter a lot of information they will get a scroll bar to browse the text in the field. If that is unchecked they won't be able to easily view the information they have added.

Thanks Nsell, your directions worked perfectly. I also went ahead and put a limit on the number of characters allowed so that all the text remains within the box I set up..Thanks again
