New to Acrobat - Need critique on pdf form

Sophia....not bad for a first form. It looks as though your original document was in Word...cause some of your underlinings are wandering. But that's not a major problem.

OK: If you made this form in Acrobat Professional 8 you might want to consider enabling "rights" so that the customer and can fill it out and save it.

Also, I bet you might be happier receiving the completed PDF form back rather than just the data, as it is now (unless you are happy importing it back into the form; also a possibility)

In which case the button you should use is "submit a form" and make sure that under "actions" you tell it to submit the complete form. Then you just need to print it out and put it in the customer file.

Also, you have a signature line but no signature field. You should be able to do this with Acrobat Professional.

Other folks may have some other/better suggestions but this is a start....

You're right about Word. I created it there first because it's so much easier than creating from scratch. I trashed four attempts before this one. I'll look for those lines and straighten them out. I really need this to be as professional as possible.

I definitely secure it when it's ready. I took it off in case locking it would stop you from viewing it properly. (thought it might make it easier)

I do want them to submit the whole form. I knew that should have been an option, but I didn't see it. I'll look for it under the help menu.

I thought about the signature field, but don't know much about it. If I make it a field, can the user still print it out, sign by hand and fax it in (if that's their choice)?

There are two things I would suggest to change in addition to the ones already mentioned.
1. I assume the red boxes means the fields are mandatory. If that's the case, I would make the red boxes disappear once the form is signed. Looks nicer.
2. The "Delivery Directions" field. I would either remove the scroll feature for this field and/or make the field bigger. Either way remove the scroll so you have no info missing when printed.

Both of those corrections make good sense - especially the scroll field (It didn't occur to me that the whole message might not appear). Thank you.

1. I removed the mandatory fields altogether and put in a line asking the viewer to fill out the form completely.

2. I checked both the "Allow Multiple Lines" and " Limit Length to Visible Area" and enlarged the text field to fit three lines of text (hopefully, that'll be long enough).

I'm still working on saving the document for the web properly. I'll try the forum archives again to see if I missed anything.

I really appreciate your time in helping me get through this. Without help, I wouldn't have seen these problems until they went into action.
