Optimizing PDFs

Is there any other way of reducing the size of a PDF, I have a 136pp text only
PDF which will only reduce in size from the original by about .5mb to 7.5mb,
The PDF was created from quark through distiller but the quark file contains
200 placed txt only PDFs.
