Override calculated field?

Is it possible to allow the end user to override a calculated field on a form? I am using Acrobat 5.0.

Yes. just do not make the field read only and add some control like a check box to indicate the value is overriden and modify the calculation script or modify the calculation script not to update the field if there is a value already present.

Thanks......can you give me a sample script that would do that? I'm self taught on java and have managed to use the forums etc to write scripts so far!
